Yuta Bitpit is a Yolngu Aboriginal phrase meaning ‘new growth’.

Elder Djapirri Mununggirritj explains “After a bushfire burns, new shoots grow. The old is gone and a new generation begins.” We decided to name our blog after this Yolngu metaphor for life and land management because it recognises the role of traditional knowledge on our origins and our future.
